How to Strike a Good Work-Life Balance

Hearing the words burn out nowadays have become quite the norm. For some, they even see it as a sign that they have been working really hard and consider it as something praise worthy. This should never be the case.

There are many ways to get over being burnt out but why should you wait for that to happen when you can learn how to strike a work life balance now? We at BeLive believe in working smart and working to live, not living to work so here are 5 steps you can take to achieve that much coveted work life balance.

Set a schedule and ENFORCE it.

People around you will always need something from you, be it in the morning and unfortunately, sometimes, when you’re having dinner with family or spending quality time with your love one late at night.

Set a schedule for your work and enforce it. Do not entertain messages or texts past beyond your schedule. Unless you are a doctor or someone who saves lives literally, everything else can wait till the next business day.

As a live streamer, you are there to create content and share it with the world but it does not necessarily mean that you need to share all of you. It is your service, know how, and information that you can and should share. Your personal life is still your own to manage and protect.

Focus on 3 things you need to accomplish.

It can be quite easy to just keep checking off a to do list and allowing things to be added to it until you no longer see an end to it. This can become overwhelming.

What you can do to make sure that you tick off things yet remain in focus is to have three things you want to accomplish in your work on a daily basis. Everything else that comes on that day, unless absolutely urgent, will be placed for next day’s task or will be attended to only when the 3 things are done ahead of time.

Do not multi-task.

Multi-tasking is a myth when it comes to work. You cannot serve two masters at the same time and this is true because when you try to do two things at once, your concentration is cut in half and your efficiency suffers too.

Focus on getting things done one at a time. For some, they start off with easy tasks and work their way to the difficult ones. For others, it works better the other way around. Find what fits your groove then do it but always keep in mind that it’s better to do one thing at a time and give it your all than try to finish multiple things in one go and have to redo it because you missed out on something.

Inform people.

People around you need to know when there are big things happening in your life. They don’t need to know the details but you can drop your customers, colleagues, and higher ups reminders like “I can’t wait for the weekend. Personal time is a huge thing in what keeps my family intact.”

If you let people know that they need to respect your personal time, they will hesitate to bother you on weekends. People need to know your boundaries so they can make sure to not overstep.

Take a real break.

We know that you love what you do and you are passionate about it but the other thing you need to be more passionate about is taking care of yourself. There is only one you in this world and if you break down, you won’t be able to share your passion and knowledge to the world efficiently and effectively.

Once a year, make sure that you take a real break and step away from it all. It will help you recharge and come back rejuvenated and more energized. If you as a person is 100%, then you as a worker will be 100%.
